Global Electronics Technologies selects Foundry Networks to boost its secure network infrastructures

Global Electronic Technology (GET), a technology provider of payment processing solutions, has completed additional network infrastructure upgrades using solutions provided by Foundry Networks Inc. (www.foundrynet.com).

Completion of the secure, Foundry-powered upgrade is part of GET's continuous uncompromising pursuit for higher security, above-and-beyond the standards set by the card associations. Visa recently awarded GET with its third consecutive Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) membership, as well as Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) for its payment software and gateway, Safeguard.

As a true global provider of transaction processing services, GET requires a secure network infrastructure that delivers robust performance and high availability. Foundry Networks' FastIron Edge Switch 2402 (FES2402) and ServerIronXL application switches were selected because of their high performance capabilities, reliability, and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO). Foundry's solutions also allow GET to boost their network performance, increase security network-wide, offload more server overhead, and streamline administration of the load balancing switches.

"Our business is extremely demanding from a network standpoint," said Steve Custer, chief information officer for GET. "Foundry's Layer 2/3 and application switching solutions provide GET high availability, peak performance management, and significantly reduced infrastructure costs. Our Foundry-powered network has successfully reduced our average time for a response by over 20 percent, ultimately improving our customer experience while increasing our revenue.

"We now have the ability to efficiently load balance traffic between multiple sites across our WAN, which provides our customers with the best service experience possible.  Operationally, it is critical for us to be able to perform regular maintenance and emergency repairs without having any impact on client processing, Foundry's solutions have allowed us to do this."

The FastIron Edge Switch (FES) series provides greater flexibility, higher reliability, enhanced security, extensive redundancy, and expanded resiliency while simplifying network management complexity and reducing on-going training expenses. The FES increases enterprise networks' Return on Investment (ROI) and decreases the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by using common sparing components and offering improved functionality through a common feature set controlled by industry standard Command Line Interface (CLI) syntax, all in a compact (1.5 - 2.5 Rack Units) form factor at industry leading prices. With an advanced hardware platform to provide user-selectable Layer 2 switching - upgradeable to full Layer 3 multiprotocol routing - the FastIron Edge Switch is the ideal networking platform for today's enterprise wiring closet and server farm applications.

Foundry Networks ServerIron family of switches are the highest performance application switches in the industry, and combine a rich set of application intelligence to deliver maximum availability, security and scalability for mission-critical applications and server farms. ServerIron switches support a comprehensive set of load balancing and Layer 7 switching features and enable network managers to control and manage the accelerating growth of their Web-based traffic and the wide range of Web services.
